چکیده

the same. Only a small amount of non-metabolized EPTC remained. With only minor differences in the EPTC metabolism patterns of the anhydride-treated and non-treated corn, it would be difficult to explain the anhydride's action on the basis of EPTC metabolism alterations. From these results, it is clear that the mode of action of the 1,8-naphthalic anhydride is not that of a simple interference in the uptake or metabolism of EPTC but indicates that a more subtle or complicated process is involved.

O6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase and ATP-Binding Cassette Membrane Transporter G2 Promotor Methylation: Can Predict the Response to Chemotherapy in Advanced Breast Cancer?

Background: ATP-binding cassette membrane transporter G2 (ABCG2) gene is one of transporter family and well characterized for their association with chemoresistance. Promoter methylation is a mechanism for regulation of gene expression. O6-Methyl guanine DNA methyl transferase (MGMT) gene plays a fundamental role in DNA repair. MGMT has the ability to remove alkyl adducts from DNA at the O6 pos...

The Alkylation of Nucleic Acids of the Rat by N-methyl-n-nitrosourea, Dimethylnitrosamine, Dimethyl Sulphate and Methyl Methanesulphonate

1. N[14C]-Methyl-N-nitrosourea, [14C]dimethylnitrosamine, [14C]dimethyl sulphate and [14C]methyl methanesulphonate were injected into rats, and nucleic acids were isolated from several organs after various time-intervals. Radioactivity was detected in DNA and RNA, partly in major base components and partly as the methylated base, 7-methylguanine. 2. No 7-methylguanine was detected in liver DNA ...

Cellular Morphology and Immunologic Properties of Escherichia coli Treated With Antimicrobial Antisense Peptide Nucleic Acid

Background & Objectives: Antisense peptide nucleic acids (PNA) that target growth essential genes show potent bactericidal properties without cell lysis. We considered the possibility that whether PNA treatment influence the bacteria total nucleic acids content and apply approach to develop a new delivery system to Dendritic cells (DCs). DCs are the most potent antigen presenting cells in th...

Development of a Novel Fluorescence Assay Based on the Use of the Thrombin-Binding Aptamer for the Detection of O6-Alkylguanine-DNA Alkyltransferase Activity

Human O(6)-alkylguanine-DNA alkyltransferase (hAGT) is a DNA repair protein that reverses the effects of alkylating agents by removing DNA adducts from the O(6) position of guanine. Here, we developed a real-time fluorescence hAGT activity assay that is based on the detection of conformational changes of the thrombin-binding aptamer (TBA). The quadruplex structure of TBA is disrupted when a cen...

Hypermethylation of E-Cadherin and Estro-gen Receptor- Gene Promoter and Its Association with Clinicopathological Features of Breast Cancer in Iranian Patients

Background: Aberrant methylation of cytosine-guanine dinucleotide islands leads to inactivation of tumor suppressor genes in breast cancer. Tumor suppressor genes are unmethylated in normal tissue and often become hypermethylated during tumor formation, leading to gene silencing. We investigated the association between E-cadherin (CDH1) and estrogen receptor-α (ESRα) gene promoter methylation a...
